Annie Edwards

Annie is a London based dance artist specialising in contemporary and hip hop dance. Her main artistic interests lie in improvisation, collaboration and disability research.

She enjoys moving sensitively- with presence, joy and patience. With a ‘crip’ lens, she sees dance as a way to inhabit and understand the body more expansively.

Before studying at London Contemporary Dance school Annie was a member of ZooNation: A Kate Prince Company and the National Youth Dance Company. Since graduating she has performed in the UK and internationally with a number of companies including Candoco Dance Company, Scottish Ballet & Nowness, Boy Blue Ent, Thick and Tight, Moxie Brawl and Theatre Rites. She worked as rehearsal director and dancer for Sadler’s Wells Young Associate Olive Hardy. After the pandemic she co-founded Anhelo Collective with Alejandra Gissler and Laura Ahumada García, premiering their first choreographic work at Resolution Festival 2022 and touring to Germany.

In house dance, she is mentored by Indahouse UK and has competed in battles in London, Vilnius, Malmö and Salzburg.

In 2024, Annie received DYCP Arts Council funding for her research into re-centring disability in a solo practice, in which she investigated dance in relation to pain, changing capacities and discovering pleasure within limitation.
